| I founded Getamom.com, Inc. after going to great lengths to find a flexible, professional position after the birth of my two children, and set out to work with companies interested in building a balanced workplace and to serve professionals who are either sequencing out of an unbalanced work situation or are moving back into the traditional work world. Now, after finding my own balance I've decided to change Getamom from a large network to a marketing and business umbrella for my own teaching, consulting and contract gigs. Many of you visiting this site may be looking for flexible, non-traditional employment. I've been featured in several books, magazine articles and websites as a resource for telecommuting, job-sharing and the like. However, my focus has changed. While I still support and encourage employers and employees alike to find flexible, alternative ways to work - I've changed direction with the company and now, to Get a Mom, means to get me and take advantage of the services I have to offer as an entrepreneur. |

| I graduated from the University of Wyoming after taking only 2 ½ years to receive my BA in English. Before sequencing out of the "working world" I was a trainer at The Product Line, a telemarketing and customer service center. I was responsible for designing the training program for Encylopaedia Britannica's new sales force, developing training solutions for Symantec and Kaiser Permanente and in creating a customer-service training program for the company. For the last ten years since my children were born, I've also built a successful piano studio. Trained as a classical pianist from the time I was about five years old, music has always been a passion of mine. I found that opening a studio in 1997 made incredible sense as it combined my love of music with my creative teaching style. At its peak the studio had over 32 students and I loved every minute of it. I founded Getamom.com in 1999 when Connor (my youngest) was 6 months old. Though I'd found success in building my piano studio, I knew that many parents would rather find work/life balance through a more traditional career path. Thus, my quest for personal work/life balance became a resource for building work/life balance for businesses and professionals. This quest has brought me to my current place of balance. I am not longer teaching and am instead instead focusing on more personal endeavors. I am currently working as the marketing director for a local real estate agent but may be available to help companies build or evaluate virtual work or non-traditional work environments. I was a founding member of the Colorado chapter of FWE (Forum for Women Entrepreneurs) and was a semi-finalist for Springboard 2000 Silicon Valley, a venture capital competition for women. In 2002 I was very honored to receive the NAFE (National Association for Female Executives) Woman of Excellence "Rising Star" Award. I'm active in my children's school and am an officer in my PEO chapter. Most importantly I am a mother to Victoria and Connor. |
